Week 9

This is me during week 9 of Winter quarter.  Cats make everything better <3

Disney Collection: Alfred Angelo

So, I believe it is fair to say that I have looked at hundreds of wedding dresses online.  It is also safe to say that one collection always brings me back, Alfred Angelo's Disney Bridal Collection

They have two series of princess dresses (suited to each Disney Princess of course!) for Cinderella, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, Snow White, Tiana, and Rapunzel. I stumbled upon these amazing wedding dresses when I thought to myself one day "Humm.. I wonder if anyone has ever created a Disney wedding dress?"  Imagine my delight when I Googled it and there they were!

Cinderella
The second series of the dresses are out now (3rd for the Cinderella dresses) and I must admit I was disappointed.  I have a strong preference for the first series rather than the second (with exceptions of Jasmine and Belle second series).  These dresses are fairly priced and come in sizes 0 to 30W

Due to copying I could not post all of the photos of the dresses that I wanted to.  I encourage you to go to the site if you love Disney princesses as much as I do or wedding dresses for that matter!

Bought My Plane Ticket!

I bought my plane ticket to England! Yay!
Okay so I know this is a late posting but give me a break it's the end of the quarter!

I will be flying on KLM Royal Dutch Airlines from Syracuse, NY to London, England  (Heathrow airport) on May 30, 2012 and returning on July 25, 2012. I'm extremely excited for my summer adventure and am sure to keep you updated!

But first, my review on the best site to use for booking a flight!  And the winner is:

I absolutely love this site for booking my plane ticket. It is one of the best shopping bots in terms of finding the lowest price available.  Some people like other sites such as Kayak.com and bookingbuddy.com but TripAdvisor was able to search ALL of them. It even allows you to check the sites against their own search. It directed me to a flight from StudentUniverse.com . With StudentUniverse it allowed me to purchase my ticket at a student price as long as it verified that I was a student (it took about 10 mins).

TripAdvisor also gives customer reviews, hotels, vacation rentals, restaurants and things to do.  All you need to do is create a username and login.
TripAdvisor

The only problem I saw with tripadvisor was that in different browsers it gave different prices. My friend was using Safari and I was using Chrome and it gave completely different prices and flights until she switched to different browser (Chrome and Firefox provided the cheaper prices). This however, could be a problem with the browsers itself.

Pinterest

Oh no.  Week 8 is here and I have a new addition (besides blogging and Facebook). Pinterest.

Pinterest is a unique new social media that allows you to share cool things you find on the Internet with others similar to Tumblr and StumbleUpon.  However, this site allows you to organize what you find by 'pinning' photos onto 'boards.'  You can find a range of unique things on this site and share your own with people who follow you.
Example of my boards

When I was first invited, I was able to link my Pinterest through Facebook which automatically followed friends on Facebook that were also on Pinterest.  This allows you too look at your friends and others boards and 'pin' items you find unique to your board.

Boards can be divided into topics. For example I have Travel Across the World, So Much Food!, Movies, My Style, and of course Wedding Ideas.  It can be tailored to your specific personality and you can search for things that you are in the mood for.  I am in the mood to look at Wedding pins so Pinterest gives me just that.  While surfing on the Internet, Pinterest gives you a Pin bookmark that allows you to easily share anything you want with people on your Pinterest account.
Example of a Pin for Travel

Overall, this is a pretty good site and it is gaining the attention of many different people (specifically women who want to plan a wedding that is the common joke).  I think you should check it out to see if it's right for you! The only problem is that you need an invite to be able to sign up for an account.

Interested but don't know anyone on Pinterest? Comment and I will invite you!

ASL Music Video: Rolling in the Deep

Being at RIT, I try my best to pick up as much ASL as I can so I can communicate effectively with deaf and hard-of-hearing students.  I frequently watch the interpreters in my classes to the point where the interpreters hink that I am a deaf student (at the beginning of the quarter's classes) or that I am an interpreting major.  Truth is, I just like watching.  It can give a visual representation along with listening.

In addition to watching interpreters, taking ASL classes I also like to watch ASL Music Videos.  Thanks to Meghan Lima, I've been able to experience an interpreter, Kelly Greer on YouTube who is absolutely fantastic!  She many music videos on her channel such as "Grenade" by Bruno Mars and "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele (featured below).

CHICKEN. WING. DIP.

FOOTBALL. GO BLUE TEAM!

So I really don't know much about football.  What I do know, it that I love the commercials and the food associated with it.  All of the pizza, chicken wings, and chicken wing dip is enough to make me buy Tums in bulk for the next month and a half.  But what can I say? It's certainly too delicious to pass up.

Because Chicken Wing Dip is mine and my boyfriend's favorite dish, we decided to experiment with the recipe and created our own!

Here is my all time favorite Chicken Wing Dip recipe for your Super Bowl Party:

1 bottle (12oz) of Hot Sauce
1 bottle (16oz) of Blue Cheese Dressing
8 oz of Sour Cream
4-8 medium sized chicken breasts (depending on how much chicken you want in your dip, I normally go for 8)
2 bags (8 cups) of Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
2 cans of Refried Beans
4 eggs

(Are you starting to see why I have so much heartburn?)

1) Cut up chicken breasts into smaller pieces and coat with egg yolk
2) Cook chicken thoroughly
3) Mix Hot Sauce, Blue Cheese Dressing, Sour Cream, Cheese and Refriend Beans together
4) Stir in the chicken and place in a 8x10 cooking dish
5) Bake in oven for 40 mins at 350 degrees

Bam! Enjoy your delicious Chicken Wing Dip with chips!

The Vow

Normally, I absolutely love chick flicks and "The Vow" isn't any different except for the fact that I cannot wait for it to come to theaters!  I'm typically a person who can wait for a good movie to come out of theaters but this one is an exception!

"The Vow" is a classic, based on real life, love story that follows the lives of Paige (Rachel McAdams) and Leo (Channing Tatum) who begin as a newlywed couple that fall victim to a tragic car accident that leaves Paige with severe memory loss, remembering nothing of Leo.  Leo, in turn, vows to win her affections and rekindle their romance.

When I first saw the movie I thought that it was a Nicholas Sparks movie that I had missed the book of (how could you not associate Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum in a love story to Nicholas Sparks?!) but I was completely wrong but excited none-the-less.  I have high expectations for this movie and I'm sure it won't disappoint.
Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum

From a marketing standpoint "The Vow" has done an excellent job. In addition to the website, "The Vow" also has a Facebook that is constantly updated, a Twitter page, YouTube, and has partnered with Parade Design engagement rings to name a few of the activities.  All are very well maintained and managed!  Not to mention the paired advertisements now have me looking at Parade Design engagements rings...

"The Vow" opens everywhere in theaters February 10th, just in time for Valentine's Day!
I'll be there, will you?
